Description: Edgar Allan Poe's father, David Poe, Jr. is listed in this Boston newspaper as appearing in the role of Sir George Touchwood in Mrs. Cowley's comedy Belle's Stratagem on October 29, 1806. His wife, Eliza Poe is listed as performing the same night as Leonora in the muiscal afterpiece The Padlock.Poe's parents, the actors David Poe, Jr. (1784-1810?) and Eliza Poe (1787-1811) were married in April 1806 in Richmond. In October 1806, they appeared in on the stage in Boston, where theire first son, William Henry Leonard Poe, was born on January 30, 1807.
