SUMMARY:Professional Development Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Edgar Allan Poe is often viewed as an anomaly in history\, both for the gruesome subject of his literature and his peculiar appearance. How can one place Poe in the historical timeline when their appears to be so many deviations from our understanding of life in the 19th century? This professional development workshop explores how to contextualize Poe’s life and literature alongside other literary and historical people\, trends\, and events to provide a more comprehensive understanding of both Poe and the 19th century.  \n\n\n\nThis free professional development workshop is hosted at The Poe Museum and Historic Richmond’s Monumental Church in Richmond\, Virginia. This workshop includes a guided tour of the Poe Museum\, three focused talks by Poe specialists\, educator resources & more! Lunch and one complimentary drink at our UnHappy Hour social are provided. A detailed schedule of the event can be viewed below.  \n\n\n\nA portion of this event will be hosted outside in the Poe Museum’s Enchanted Garden.
