On May 16, 1836, Edgar Allan Poe and his young fiancée Virginia Clemm were joined by a few close friends for a small wedding ceremony at a home near Capitol Square. It’s Valentine’s Day, a holiday Americans celebrated even back in Edgar Allan Poe’s time. In fact, one of his friends, Anna Charlotte Lynch, hosted an annual St. Valentine’s Day party at her home in New York.

Poe Museum Members Explore Shockoe Hill Cemetery
Last Sunday, the members of the Poe Museum were invited to a special Poe-themed tour of Richmond's Shockoe Hill Cemetery led by Jeffry Burden, President of the Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery.
